What is Special Education? Special Education is education above and beyond the regular classroom that helps children who have problems learning, often called "learning disabilities" to learn. There are laws in each state that define Special Education and Disabilities and all schools must follow these laws and provide services to the children who need Special Education. Learn more.


Who Is Eligible for Special Education? Special education is usually available for children who have conditions such as:

  • Downs Syndrome, Autism and similar conditions
  • Attention Deficit Disorders (ADHD)
  • Hearing, Vision and Speech Impairments
